Long long ago there was a hut in a forest.
बहुत पहले एक जंगल में एक झोपड़ी थी।
A sage named Kanva lived there with his adopted daughter Shakuntala.
कण्व नामक एक ऋषि अपनी दत्तक पुत्री शकुंतला के साथ वहाँ रहते थे।
She was kind hearted.
वह दयालु थी।
She played with the animals and the birds of the forest.
वह जंगल के जानवरों और पक्षियों के साथ खेलती थी ।
All the creatures loved her.
सभी जीव उसे प्यार करते थे।
One day Shakuntala was collecting flowers to worship God.
एक दिन शकुंतला भगवान की पूजा करने के लिए फूल इकट्ठा कर रही थी।
Suddenly she saw a wounded deer.
अचानक उसने एक घायल हिरण को देखा।
She nursed it.
उसने उसकी सेवा की।
Meanwhile a king reached there with some horsemen.
इसी बीच एक राजा कुछ घुड़सवारों के साथ वहाँ पहुँचा।
The king asked, "Who are you and what are you doing in this forest?"
राजा ने पूछा, "तुम कौन हो और इस जंगल में क्या कर रही हो?"
She replied, "I am Shakuntala.
उसने जवाब दिया, "मैं शकुंतला हूं।
I live here with my father Kanva.
मैं यहां अपने पिता कण्व के साथ रहती हूंँ।
But who are you and why did you hurt this deer?"
लेकिन आप कौन हैं और आपने इस हिरण को चोट क्यों पहुंचाई?"
The king replied "I am Dushyanta, the king of Hastinapur.
राजा ने उत्तर दिया "मैं हस्तिनापुर का राजा दुष्यंत हूँ।
Hunting is my hoboy and this forest is a part of my kingdom".
शिकार मेरा शौक है यह जंगल मेरे राज्य का एक हिस्सा है"।
Shakuntala said politely," It is the duty of a king to protect the life of all creatures of his kingdom.
शकुंतला ने विनम्रता से कहा, "अपने राज्य के सभी प्राणियों के जीवन की रक्षा करना एक राजा का कर्तव्य है।
If you hunt them, how will they feel themselves safe in your state?"
यदि आप उनका शिकार करते हैं, तो वे आपके राज्य में खुद को कैसे सुरक्षित महसूस करेंगे?"
These words affected the king much.
इन शब्दों ने राजा को बहुत प्रभावित किया।
First time there was someone who taught him the lesson of kindness and love for all creatures.
पहली बार कोई थी जिसने उसे सभी प्राणियों के लिए दया और प्रेम का पाठ पढ़ाया।
The king was so much impressed on her kindness that he wanted to make Shakuntala his queen.
राजा उसकी दया पर इतना प्रभावित हुआ कि वह शकुंतला को अपनी रानी बनाना चाहा।
Shakuntala was married to Dushyanta.
शकुंतला का विवाह दुष्यंत से हुआ ।
One day the call of duty stirred the king.
एक दिन कर्तव्य की पुकार ने राजा को आंदोलित कर दिया।
He promised Shakuntala to come back soon.
उन्होंने शकुंतला को जल्द वापस आने का वादा किया।
Before going he gave her a gold ring with his name engraved on it.
जाने से पहले उसने उसे अपने नाम के साथ एक सोने की अंगूठी दी।
One day Shakuntala went to the river to take a bath.
एक दिन शकुंतला स्नान करने के लिए नदी पर गई।
When she entered the river, her ring slipped off.
जब वह नदी में प्रवेश किया, तो उसकी अंगूठी फिसल गई।
A fish swallowed the ring.
एक मछली ने अंगूठी निगल ली।
She was sad to lose the only symbol of her love.
वह अपने प्यार के एकमात्र प्रतीक को खोने के लिए दुखी थी।
But this sorrow did not last long.
लेकिन यह दुःख लंबे समय तक नहीं रहा।
She gave birth to a baby boy.
उसने एक बच्चे को जन्म दिया।
She named him 'Bharat'.
उसने उसका नाम 'भरत' रखा।
Time passed.
वक्त निकल गया।
One day a fisherman caught that fish.
एक दिन एक मछुआरे ने उस मछली को पकड़ लिया।
When he cut it, he found a gold ring in the belly of the fish.
जब उसने उसे काटा, तो उसे मछली के पेट में एक सोने की अंगूठी मिली।
He saw the name of the king on it.
उसने उस पर राजा का नाम देखा।
He reached the palace and handed it over to the king.
वह महल में पहुंचा और राजा को इसे सौंप दिया।
In a flash, the king remembered his promise.
एक पल में, राजा को अपना वादा याद आया।
The chariot was made ready.
रथ तैयार किया गया था।
The king reached the forest.
राजा जंगल में पहुंचा।
He saw a little boy playing with a lion cub.
उसने एक छोटे लड़के को शेर के शावक के साथ खेलते देखा।
The king was surprised at it.
राजा को इस पर आश्चर्य हुआ।
He asked,"Who are you, brave boy?"
उसने पूछा, "तुम कौन हो, बहादुर लड़का?"
"I am Bharat", replied the boy.
"मैं भरत हूँ", लड़के ने उत्तर दिया।
"What are you doing with this cub?"
"आप इस शावक के साथ क्या कर रहे हैं?"
"I am counting his teeth".
"मैं उसके दाँत गिन रहा हूँ"।
"Don't you feel fear?"
"क्या आपको डर नहीं लगता?"
"No, not at all."
"नहीं, बिलकुल नहीं।"
The king expressed his desire to meet Bharat's parents.
राजा ने भरत के माता-पिता से मिलने की इच्छा व्यक्त की।
Bharat led the king to the hut where his mother was present.
भरत ने राजा को उस कुटी पर ले गया जहाँ उसकी माँ मौजूद थी।
Bharat informed his mother that someone wanted to meet her.
भरत ने अपनी मां को सूचित किया कि कोई उससे मिलना चाहता है।
Shakuntala came out and saw king Dushayanta.
शकुंतला ने बाहर आकर राजा दुष्यंत को देखा।
She told, "Bharat, he is your father king Dushyanta."
उसने बताया, "भरत, वह आपके पिता राजा दुष्यंत है।"
Bharat's happiness had no boundary.
भरत की खुशी की कोई सीमा नहीं थी।
He fell at his father's feet.
अपने पिता के चरणों में गिर गया।
The king was overwhelmed to know Bharat was his son.
राजा भरत को अपना पुत्र जानकर अभिभूत थे।
He hugged Bharat and said, "Dear son, now time has come to go to palace with your mother.
उन्होंने भरत को गले लगाया और कहा, "प्रिय पुत्र, अब तुम्हें अपनी माता के साथ महल जाने का समय आ गया है ।
You are the future king of Hastinapur.
"तुम हस्तिनापुर के भावी राजा हो।"
Later on Bharat became the king.
बाद में भरत राजा बने।
The people were very happy in his kingdom.
उसके राज्य में लोग बहुत खुश थे।
It was the beginning of golden era.
यह स्वर्ण युग की शुरुआत थी।
Our country got its name after this mighty king 'Bharat'.
इस पराक्रमी राजा 'भरत' के बाद हमारे देश को इसका नाम मिला।
